Cry Baby Carly

This mask and physical theatre performance piece tells the story of Carly's struggle with cyber-bullies, allowing pupils to see its impact and the heart-ache it causes.

anti cyber bullying workshops witin primary schools Carly is happy because her parents have finally given in to her pleases for a mobile phone on her eleventh birthday. But her pleasure soon turns to mysery as, first her phone and then her computer, are used as tools for bullying by her so-called friends.

Carly is devastated and does not know how she will cope, finally deciding that she cannot face school. However, she comes to learn that with the support of her school she can return to her class, not as a victim but as someone who has grown stronger from her experience.

The performance encourages empathy and empowers children to find tools to overcome this. The piece helps children to make smart choices and not to succumb to peer pressure.

Workshops:

Follow on workshops will explore the issues raised by the performance and provide a stimulus for further work within school. Workshops are dual facilitated, offering the possibility of an intense pupil experience and of a level of pupil interactivity.

Suitable for:

We have two separate performances for KS2 (occasionally performed to KS1) and KS3. Our KS3 performance is very hard-hitting.

Curriculum:

This piece supports the Citizenship and PSHE curricula. It can also be used to support the English curriculum as a vehicle for the development of pupil ability to research and debate these vitally important issues, as well as providing an exercise for practicing persuasive literature.
