Dance in Secondary Schools
Workshops offering dance in secondary schools will be more specialized, introducing pupils to different styles and disciplines and stimulating their own creative thoughts on choreography.
We encourage pupils to think beyond what they are safe with, moving away from 'comfortable' styles such as street dance, and challenging them with different styles such as Isadora Duncan.
We also offer:
Art & Design
Debating & Public Speaking
Drama
Performing Arts
Physical Theatre
Script Writing
Singing & Music
Stage Combat

Many of the pupils will have prior knowledge of dance, so we look at specific choreography such as Fosse, focusing not just on the individual movements but on presentation as an overall group.
At this level we are looking for a performance with strict timing and heighten spatial awareness. We look for clean and tight group performances, challenging pupils to move beyond their comfort zone.
Advantages of Dance
Dancing within a positive and supportive atmosphere lessens pupil self consciousness, while helping them to achieve greater strength, agility and flexibility.
Dance is not only great for improving general fitness, it is also a fantastic tool to help improve co-ordination, spatial awareness, mental functioning, confidence, creativity, relieve stress and improve posture.
A heightened sense of the body’s natural response to music can be developed through the encouragement of creative input.
Creative and expressive movement, dance technique, musicality and rhythm are all developed. When offering dance in secondary schools we can include mime and sometimes props can into routines.
Available Courses
Courses and workshops are available in a wide range of dance styles – Ballet, Ballroom, Hip Hop, Street, Jazz, African, Bhangra, Contemporary, Salsa, Tango, Jive, Line, contemporary and cultural to name a few!
These courses are energetic and exciting and culminate in a showcase presentation.
