Speaking & Listening

Using the principles of LAMDA, Caboodle can tailor workshops to help raise speaking & listening skills, building confidence in public speaking and raising standards of communication within your school.

Within these workshops pupils will work on their presentation skills, discover the correct way to use their voices effectively, improve breathing techniques, look at relaxation techniques and learn to work together as a group to produce ensemble presentation pieces.

These workshops offering drama for PPA cover have been particularly successful in schools where English is a second language to many pupils.

Creative Writing/Devising

This course complements the Creative Writing curriculum by developing the process through the practical medium of drama.

Using drama skills and exercises, pupils can create and sustain a character, develop a story, explore relationships, and look at story structure and narrative.

Workshops can focus on script writing, poetry or prose. Pupils will get a balance of working on both the dramatization and the writing process.

Generally the course culminates in a presenation of the pupils' work.

PSHE

Using drama to explore issues highlighted on the PSHE curriculum allows pupils to draw their own conclusions, form their own opinions, express themselves confidently, develop social awareness, see issues from another person's perspective and develop empathy.

Pupils will work on drama games, exercises and image theatre, allowing further exploration of particular issues of relevance such as bullying, racism, relationships & transition.

They will then develop their own pieces of drama which can be performed to their peers at the end of the course.

History

Studying a particular historical period through Drama offers a fun and stimulating way of creating Living History, deepening your pupil's understanding and appreciation of the National Curriculum topics.

Our tutors can lead workshops that bring the past to life, such as Ancient Egypt, Anglo Saxons, Tudors, Greece, the Celts or Victorian Britain.

The possibilities are endless and pupils can become very involved and enthusiastic.

Physical Theatre/Mask & Movement

PPA workshops in physical theatre or mask and movement allow pupils to explore their imaginations and to experiment with expressing emotion and action through the body.

Workshops encourage pupils to be adventurous with their ideas, co-operate with each other, working towards an ensemble mood within the group. Of particular benefit to those pupils who do not excel academically, or have English as a second language, they provide a springboard to creativity without barriers.

Workshops can be used in conjunction with poetry, history, dance, image work and PSHE.

Comedy Improvisation

These are specialist workshops for upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 pupils. They involve developing comedy skills by use of exercises and techniques designed to enhance quick thinking, acceptance, creativity, imagination, solo comedy work and group comedy work.

The workshops form a set of comedy rules, giving pupils a template from which they can experiment with their own individual style and ideas.

The sessions promote confidence in performance, developing better communication skills, devising, understanding of complimentarity, timing and heightened awareness of others around you.
