Pupils can also relate what they have learnt directly to a script that they will perform at the end of term.

We have a wide range of suitable scripts for pupils to work on, or we can help them to devise their own script for performance.

We can also offer an intensive course working on a set script or devising. Workshops involve taking direction, creating & sustaining a character, voice projection and creative input. The course culminates in a performance.

Caboodle tailors a variety of workshops offering all aspects of drama.

Radio Drama/Presenting

These courses and workshops are designed to introduce pupils to new drama techniques. Pupils learn about the power of their voice as the sole tool for creating drama, conveying everything through dialogue.

The workshops can focus on accents, dialects, radio drama, vocal expression and presenting. They give an opportunity to experiment through different media such as adverts, presenting, news, poetry or pure drama.

Time can also be spent exploring additional effects to aid visualisation of a story or drama, such as music and sound effects. Immediate playback and constructive criticism help to develope objective listening skills and offer ways for fast improvement.

Pupils all receive a CD of their work after the course has finished and work has been edited.

Social & Topical Drama

This course is designed to use drama to examine different social and topical issues, allowing pupils to explore situations in a more creative, dramatic context. Supports teaching of PSHE curriculum

History Through Drama

Whether your pupils are studying Ancient Egypt, Anglo Saxons, World War 2, the Celts or Victorian Britain, our facilitators will lead workshops that help to develop pupil’s understanding of and enthusiasm for National Curriculum topics through the medium of drama.

Shakespeare Made Easy

Pupils need not struggle to understand Shakespeare any longer. Caboodle can help pupils to learn to love Shakespeare! Workshops tailored around your chosen text, concentrating on specific scenes, exploring themes, re-writing text to modern language or rehearsing full plays. A course developed to help pupils learn to love Shakespeare. Workshops are tailored around your chosen texts, focusing on individual scenes, plays as a whole, characters & relationships or re-writing scripts to modern day language.

Creative Writing/Drama

This course encompasses the whole creative process from developing ideas, building a script through improvisation, creating characters and rehearsing the final piece for performance.

Comedy Improvisation

A specialist workshop which involves developing comedy skills using exercises and techniques designed to enhance quick thinking, acceptance, creativity, imagination, solo and group comedy work.

These sessions promote confidence in performance, developing better communication skills, devising and understanding of complimentarity. They heighten awareness of nuances and timing and encourage spontaneity - finding humour in a situation and being able to develop it for audience reaction.

Drama Devise

We offer intensive drama/devise workshops. These are designed to encourage pupils to express their ideas on issues such as bullying in their own voice. The result is often a hard hitting and accessible piece of peer group drama which is presented to other pupils within your school and possibly neighbouring schools, helping to develop and maintain cross community relations. Pupils find this process to be a truly empowering experience, and we would strongly recommend that if you take this option you choose pupils who have exhibited challenging behaviour to participate.
