Old Mother Earth

Celebrate environmental issues with this delightful interactive assembly performance which lasts for approximately 40 minutes and is suitable for pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2. Led by two tutors, it is designed to teach your pupils the importance of sustainability.

Join her as she describes her many struggles and allow your pupils to help in explaining to Mother Earth what is making her feel so sick. Pupils will engage with the characters and empathise with Mother Earth's problems. The children have the chance to fully interact and participate in some of the action.

Old Mother Earth can be followed by a series of workshops to explore the subject further, looking at how individual choices and behaviour can affect the local, national and global environment.

Workshops

Follow on workshops will explore the issues raised by the performance and provide a stimulus for further work within school. Workshops are dual facilitated, offering the possibility of an intense pupil experience and of a level of pupil interactivity.

Curriculum:

In addition to contributing directly to a greater understanding of The Environment, this piece also supports the Citizenship, Science and Geography curriculum. They can also be used to support the English curriculum as a vehicle for the development of pupil ability to research and debate these vitally important issues.
