Finding Cassie

Single facilitated creative story telling and writing

Taking as his starting point the picture "Tar Beach" by Faith Ringold, Private Investigator Theodopolos D. Scover describes Cassie, lying on the roof of her apartment, gazing at the stars and dreaming of flying away.

Tar Beach story telling and creative writing Her imagination is so strong that one day she flies too far and her parents call in the investigator to discover where she has gone.

He cannot solve the mystery on his own, so enlists your pupil's help using cryptic clues. But the investigator is called away, so he leaves the final clues for your pupils to solve. The story looks at adventure and mystery, will encourage creative thinking and allow the children's imaginations to run wild.

Suitable for:

Key Stage 1 and 2 (but delivered in a different way to each Key Stage 1.

Curriculum:

In addition to contributing directly to the English curriculum, both pieces will help in th ework of delivering Creativity across the Curriculum, promote the exploration of ideas, making connections and looking at Historical, Social and Spiritual contexts.
