Performing Arts in Primary Schools
Research shows that the inclusion of the performing arts within schools can help to stimulate pupils’ critical thinking, increase cultural understand and encourage creative thinking right across the curriculum.
Using a broad range of creative arts will help to ensure that all pupils find something to engage with, while finding new ways of approaching subjects contributes towards improved lifelong learning. Caboodle's performing arts workshops provide an opportunity for children to work on more than one area of theatre. They focus on the three main aspects of theatre - drama, dance and singing skills. Led by experienced professional artists, the workshops offer inspiring and challenging opportunities for all pupils who participate. Workshops provide a fun and stimulating environment where pupils can let their imaginations and creativity run wild while learning new skills, making new friends and creating original theatre! Sometimes the workshops are "themed", so tutors will nurture and fine tune creative input from the children to produce a piece of devised theatre.
At other times the tutors may use a script or Musical Theatre score to work on. This allows participants to offer ideas on direction and staging, while also learning the importance of taking direction and working as a member of a team to produce a finished piece. At all times these workshops will be guided by your needs and the needs of your pupils. Drama, dance and singing can be used to enhance almost any area of the curriculum from mathematics (dance and rhythm have been proven to increase numerical ability among those who are struggling) to PSHE and Citizenship. Talk to us about your particular needs.
