Story Telling and Creative Writing in Primary Schools
Our approach to story-telling and creative writing is to inspire in pupils the desire to create and tell their own stories and to have greater confidence in their ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in both writing and speach.
Chose from one of our single facilitated talking head workshops run by one of our 'characters' or ask us to tailor a workshop around a theme chosen by you.

Using drama games and exercises, together with creative writing techniques, our tutors can work with your pupils, examining characters and key events within the chosen medium and explore 'what if' scenarios.
Our tutors can develop plot, characterization, devise setting, story structure and narrative. They will also look for opportunities to explore different genres and styles, to explore the use of language and actions as well as creating and sustaining the roles of individual characters.
Looking at content and context will also increase their understanding of what is relevant to the telling of the tale.
Poetry and an exploration of the sounds and rhythms inherent in words, together with simple rhying structures can also be used to enhance pupils' abilities to express themselves.
NB: Please talk to us, if you have a particular character or theme you would like explored in this way. Given sufficient notice we will be happy to create a character for you.
Alternatively we can provide an inter-active Story-Teller who can tell a story around a specific genre or theme, for example mystery or adventure, to inspire the children to create – ending the workshop with a piece for the children to finish or respond to.
